In the early afternoon, after

Posted in: Uncategorized

In the early afternoon, after lunch, when we were still mapping the long scatter, Faustus and another man came down over the ridge of the hill. We all hopped up out of the trench to greet them, and to our delight found that they had two small dogs with them, friendly and high-spirited.

They were truffle dogs, and it is a matter of great regret to me that I have forgotten their names, because I remember that they were charming and made me laugh. Faustus and the young man, who was his nephew, has already found some black truffles. He offered them to us to smell, they had a strong savory fragrance.

I thought they used pigs! I’m quite disillusioned now.

Dude, I decided about four days ago that one of the characters in my NaNo novel would have a truffle pig. (`8
