Written After Watching Raiders of the Lost Ark
(which I have just rediscovered among my writings of five years ago)
Out of the tomb which trapped me in
With twenty tons of solid stone,
I thank invincibility
I have not even chipped a bone.
When guys with guns sneak up behind
I have not flinched or turned a hair
Under the wheels of trucks and trains
My head is bruised, but it’s still there.
Beyond this place of poisonous snakes
Five hundred armed guards stand around
And yet, ’spite bullets, all the guards
Find and shall find me still around.
It matters not how high the odds
How battered be my trusty helm,
I am the master of my fate
I am the hero of this film.
